Notice of Election and
Receipt of Nominations
Notice is hereby given that an election for five persons to be members of the Board of Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann, the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), is to be held in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives Act 2011, as amended, and the Ministerial Procedures dated 2 August 2012.
The five persons to be elected are in the following categories:
1. A registered nurse from the practice of psychiatric nursing.
2. A registered nurse from the practice of intellectual disability nursing engaged in clinical practice.
3. A registered midwife from the practice of midwifery.
4. A registered nurse or registered midwife from the practice of public health nursing engaged in clinical practice.
5. A registered nurse from the area of nursing engaged in the care of older persons.
Nomination papers may be submitted from 9.00am on Friday, 7 August 2026. The period for receiving nominations will expire at 1.00pm on Friday, 21 August 2026. Completed nomination papers and declarations must be delivered to the Returning Officer by post or in person so as to be received before the close of nominations. A candidate must be nominated in writing by not fewer than three other registered nurses or registered midwives.
Only nurses and midwives who are on the register on Monday, 24 August 2026 at 1pm will be eligible to vote. If a poll is to be taken, election and e-Voting information will be issued on or before Monday, 21 September 2026 to these registrants. The electronic ballot will open on Monday, 21 September 2026 at 9.00am. The ballot will close on Thursday, 1 October 2026 at noon.
