Rolfe et al’s What Model (2001)
The Rolfe et al. What model of critical reflection is a framework developed by Professors Gary Rolfe, Dawn Freshwater and Melanie Jasper.
The model aims to support practitioners to reflect on their experiences, feelings, and actions, and developing practice accordingly. Rolfe et al’s reflective model is based upon three simple questions: What? So what? Now what? These questions are designed to help the practitioner to reflect on what they have experienced - first by describing what happened, then by thinking about what it means, and finally by reflecting how these insights might inform future clinical judgement or practice.
