eLearning resources for Irish nurses and midwives
These are a range of online resources which have been created to assist nurses and midwives and broaden their knowledge and skill.
HSELanD.ie is the premier online destination for Irish medical professionals, with more than 130 eLearning programmes, resources, assessment and planning tools to support health care professionals in their personal and professional development.
Run by the Health Service Executive (HSE), it services professionals who work in the HSE, the voluntary hospital sector, and associated non-government organisations (NGOs) as well as students on placement in one of those groups. Healthcare workers who are between jobs, agency staff and health care students not on placement can also access this content.
HSELanD’s course content has been specifically developed to meet the needs of Irish healthcare workers, including nurses and midwives. NMBI has worked in partnership with HSELanD to develop a medicines management eLearning programme.

Alison’s free online health care courses are aimed at those working in health care and those who would like to work in the sector. The diploma-level health courses are in subjects such as in psychology, children's studies, human anatomy and physiology, nursing and patient care, health studies, social work studies, nursing leadership and care management.
BMJ Learning provides CME/CPD and postgraduate training for nurses and other health care professionals. It offers hundreds of accredited, peer-reviewed learning modules in text, video, and audio formats.
Each module has a combination of learning tools such as interactive case histories, reflective thinking, referenced text, as well as audio and video.
The European School of Oncology (ESO) has developed e-grandround, a live online teaching session. It offers these sessions free of charge, which gives health professionals opportunities to learn from specialists in their field and ask them questions directly. Recordings of the sessions are available for 12 months after broadcast and also provide an important educational resource. All e-grandrounds are CME accredited.
NurseCPD.ie is an online continuing professional development (CPD) resource which has been created for Irish nurses and health care professionals. It has free educational and clinical content which has been developed specifically with nurses in mind.
On completion of each module on the website, the module details and any learning notes which the user has made about the module will automatically be logged in the user's personal online CPD log. NurseCPD.ie’s content created and reviewed by Irish nurses and health care professionals.
Univadis has an online learning library which has been independently developed by trusted providers of medical education. Providers such as International Medial Press and Concept Infos (VDA Prod) work in collaboration with leading faculty from major academic institutions around the world to identify current trends and respond with detailed analyses of current procedures and techniques.
Module content includes interviews, case studies, clinical exercises, commentary, and slide on topics of relevance to those who work in primary and hospital care settings.
