NMBI 2025 Pilot Professional Competence Scheme

The pilot phase of the Professional Competence Scheme (PCS) commenced in January 2025 and comcluded in April 2026. The pilot involved 37 pilot sites nationwide, with 985 registrants participating.

The pilot sites represented all divisions of the Register, including acute general hospitals, maternity hospitals, community care services, education settings, and social care services. 

Following the pilot, NMBI is currently revising and strengthening aspects of the scheme before its formal introduction in January 2027. 

For this reason, we would not encourage organisations or individuals to pilot or adopt the current model while these final enhancements are being made. The finalised scheme is expected to be published in November 2026.
