Restoration fee policy adopted by NMBI
The policy to restore a nurse or midwife to the Register of Nurses and Midwives adopted by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) is as follows:
Restoration of a nurse / midwife to the Register of Nurses and Midwives may be considered by the Chief Executive Officer in accordance with Section 78 of the Act if:
- Not later than six months after the date on which the appropriate fee became due, the nurse or midwife makes an application to the Board for the restoration of the nurse’s or midwife’s registration.
- The nurse or midwife pays to the Board the appropriate fees.
However, it is important to note that the six month timeframe commences the day the fee was due, e.g. 1 January in a particular year. If a nurse or midwife’s name is removed from the Register of Nurses and Midwives and they apply to have it restored before the 1 July, the nurse / midwife will be required to pay any outstanding Annual Retention Fee(s), plus a Restoration Fee.
If the nurse / midwife does not apply to have their name restored to the Register before the 1 July they will be considered as a new applicant to the Register and will have to go through the full registration application process and pay associated fees.
