A new guide has been written to explain the complaints process in ‘Plain English’ format. The guide was written for nurses or midwives who are the subject of a complaint to help them understand the complaints process. Plain English is a way of writing and presenting information that helps someone understand it the first time they read or hear it. It involves short clear sentences and using everyday words. It does not involve small print or unnecessary jargon. The guide has been reviewed and approved by the National Adult Literacy Agency (NALA) and it has awarded the NALA Plain English logo which indicates that this guide meets international plain English standards.
