The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland recognises the urgency in processing and progressing all applications and intensive efforts are continuing to speed up the timelines for overseas applicants.

We would like to apologise for the current delays but assure you that additional staff are working on the process, and we are beginning to make progress.

To be fair to all applicants we are dealing with cases chronologically and the oldest cases will be dealt with first.

Please note that due to the current delays, and to assist applicants who have been impacted, NMBI has decided to accept English language test results for applications that were submitted on or before 31/8/21 and had valid minimum scores at the time of application. This means that if an applicant had a valid test score at the time they submitted their application for recognition to NMBI and those test results have expired while they have been waiting for a decision letter, these results will still be accepted by NMBI when the applicant reaches the point of registration. This applies to all those who submitted their applications via the old paper process, prior to 28 September 2020, as well as those who applied for recognition using MyNMBI between 28 September 2020 and 31 August 2021.

Also please note that due to Covid-19 NMBI will continue to consider all decision letters issued on or after March 2019 valid.

NMBI endeavours to answer all emails but we are asking that you bear with us at the moment as we are receiving very high volumes of email traffic. In order to allow our teams to focus on processing cases we would ask that, if possible, you only email when providing additional information or clarifications.

Thank you for your continued patience.
