September 02, 2020

The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) today confirmed optimum times for the 2020 first time graduates wishing to apply for registration during September. It is important to note in this context that during September MyNMBI, the new NMBI online registration system, will go live meaning that graduates will either need to register before or after this happens. There will be a period of a week where the systems switch over (included in this is a large migration of data) when NMBI will be unable to accept or process applications.

  • If you are one of the 1,500 first time* graduates in 2020 and need registration soon please note that the registration process after 15 September will be online through the new MyNMBI system
  • If you apply for registration before 15 September you will need to do so through the existing ‘paper based’ process
  • If you apply for registration after 28 September you should do this online through MyNMBI
  • We cannot accept any applications for registration between 16 and 28 September as the data migration to our new registration system MyNMBI will be in progress

For 2020 first time graduates who apply on or before 15 September 2020

2020 first time graduates who apply for registration on or before 15 September 2020 must do so via the existing graduate registration process. This process involves the submission of a completed Undergraduate Registration Form and a Certified Copy of Identification (passport or birth certificate only).

Accepted Certifying Authorities: Garda (Ireland only), Notary public, Commissioner for Oaths, Solicitor/Lawyer Justice of the Peace, Peace Commissioner, Post Office (UK and Ireland only).

Due to the volume of applications and limited time period to process them, incomplete paper undergraduate applications will not be processed. If this is the case you will be required to apply via MyNMBI.

2020 first time graduates who decide not to apply for registration on or before 15 September can apply for registration via the new MyNMBI portal from 28 September 2020.

Please do contact us at registration@nmbi.ie if you have any questions regarding this.

For 2020 first time graduates who wish to apply after 16 September 2020

Those who wish to apply for registration after 16 September 2020 must do so online using MyNMBI. The MyNMBI portal becomes available on 28 September. Updates will be forthcoming through the NMBI website, which we would encourage you to monitor.
