Registered nurses and midwives can renew their registration through MyNMBI from 30 November 2020 until 31 January 2021. Annual renewal notification letters will begin to issue next week informing registrants of the process. This letter includes temporary credentials to allow you to access your registration account. Please do not start the process without the renewal notice.

Paying your annual renewal through MyNMBI

This year, the annual renew process will be done exclusively through MyNMBI and we can no longer accept renewal payments by phone. We recommend all registrants use a laptop or desktop to renew their 2021 registration as the application is not yet mobile enabled. Please allow 15 minutes to login to MyNMBI for the first time and renew your registration.

To complete the process, you will need:

  • The renewal notification letter sent to you by post
  • Employment details (if employed)
  • A valid debit or credit card

If you have any difficulties logging in or renewing online, please contact our customer care team on
1890 200 116 who can help you through the process.

Data collection

This year, for the first time we will be collecting employment data. This will include information on job title, name and address of your workplace, start and end date (if completed) of your employment and divisions of the Register in which you are practising.

NMBI is legally required to maintain statistical records for research and planning purposes. This data will enable us to support the needs and skills of registered nurses and midwives in Ireland, as we work to maintain standards and associated public safety. Your personal data will be collected, maintained and processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Irish data protection legislation. NMBI will not share or publish your personal data and all reporting is done on an anonymised basis. For further details, please see the NMBI Privacy Notice.
