Values of nursing and midwifery
The Office of the Chief Nursing Officer, Department of Health in partnership with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) and the Office of the Nursing and Midwifery Services Director (ONMSD) HSE have launched a position paper which sets out the core values and the behaviours that nurses and midwives in Ireland have identified.
Values for Nurses and Midwives in Ireland – National Awareness Programme aims to engage nurses and midwives in all sectors of the health service (clinical, education, leadership and management) and nursing and midwifery students to familiarise themselves with, and reflect on using the agreed core values of Compassion, Care and Commitment and their associated behaviours, to inform their decision-making.
NMBI, in collaboration with the ONMSD, supported by the Department of Health are planning to facilitate the Values for Nurses and Midwives in Ireland - National Awareness Programme at a venue near you. The aim of the 2-hour programme is to enable nurses and midwives, and nursing and midwifery students, to familiarise themselves with, and reflect on, using the agreed core values of Compassion, Care and Commitment to inform their decision-making. Anyone who is interested in having the session facilitated in their organisation please contact NMBI at firstname.lastname@example.org.
