In December the HSE Home Birth Service held two clinical professional seminars to launch the policies, procedures and guidelines to support the Homebirth Service.
In December, the HSE Home Birth Service held two clinical professional seminars to launch the policies, procedures and guidelines to support the Homebirth Service.
The seminars were held in Athlone and Cork and were attended by the Mary Griffin, CEO of NMBI, Bernie Conolly, Midwifery Officer NMBI, self-employed community midwives (SECMs), designated midwifery officers, obstetricians, advocacy group representatives, Directors of Midwifery, Directors of Public Health Nursing, and representatives from the third level institutions, Quality and Safer National Primary Care Division, State Claims Agency and the Health Information Quality Authority (HIQA).
The agenda for the seminars included a number of presentations followed by a workshop on implementing policies/procedures/guidelines finishing with a panel discussion and question and answer session.
The next steps include the piloting of the policies/procedures/guidelines over the next 12 months and all documentation will be available on the HSE website in early 2017.
